What´s Yoga Therapy?
"Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga." IAYT
Yoga Therapy down-regulates the nervous system through mindful movement and a safe, nurturing framework. It calms stress, restores balance, supports immune function, and protects long-term health by lowering inflammation. It can reduce pain, ease joint discomfort, support neurological conditions, improve mood, and relieve tension, headaches, and stress. Yoga therapy also promotes weight management, eases menopausal symptoms, and provides a calming, restorative effect for individuals dealing with trauma.
How it works
1. Free Call
Before starting, a free 15-minute call is available to answer questions, and go over practical details such as session fees. To begin, please complete the form in the Contact section, and a response will be provided within 24–48 hours.
2. Intake & Evaluation
The initial 75-minute assessment is a comprehensive session focused on understanding your health concerns, medical history, and desired outcomes. Following the assessment, a personalized yoga therapy plan will be created to address your physical abilities, overall health, age, and personal goals.
3. Follow-up Sessions
In regular sessions, we continue working toward wellness goals, reflect on progress, and adapt the practices depending on both physical and psychological factors to meet the client’s present-moment needs.
Intake & Evaluation
75 minutes
- Comprehensive evaluation and assessment (this can take 1-2 additional sessions)
- Review of your intake form, highlighting your health, lifestyle, movement and breathing patterns, understanding stress and challenges, and identifying your strengths, resources, and opportunities for growth.
Follow-up Sessions
60 minutes
I work with clients in regular one-to-one sessions, usually once or twice a week. Each session is tailored to the individual’s moment-to-moment needs, integrating multiple modalities of yoga therapy, including:
- Gentle Movement & Restorative Yoga
- Breath Regulation Practices
- Somatic Practices
- Mindfulness Meditation
- Relaxation Techniques
